Christmas Vacation-Day 3

We didn't do much the Tuesday we were in Breckenridge. Lily and I had been up all night sick. We felt much better when did finally get up, but we laid around in the room till about 11:00 or so before we got up to do anything.
We took Lily on the gondola so we could see the top of the mountain. She loved the ride up there and back. When we were up at the top we were looking into getting Lily ski lessons. She loved watching all the kiddos skiing around. However, the kids have to be 3 years old to take lesson. Well, Lily wasn't too happy about that. She had a melt down on top of the mountain. The instructor gave her a granola bar to make it better!!! The picture is us coming back down the gondola.
After, coming back down the mountain we had lunch at Empire Burger...best burger I have had in a LONG time!!! After eating we walked around on Main Street. We went and booked our Sleigh Ride for that evening.
Us before our sleigh ride.

Lily absolutely loved the sleigh ride. She liked it so much she wanted to go again:)
That evening we went back to the lodge to get ready for dinner. After dinner, Lily and I took some pictures in the lobby!!!

Breckenridge Vacation

Christmas Vacation-Day 2

Our 2nd day on vacation didn't start off to good. I think the elevation was getting to me. I woke up weak and sick to my stomach. The nice lady at the front desk said I probably had altitude sickness. Our hotel was about 10, 200 feet above sea level. I was determined not to spoil our vacation, so I took Karen's (the lady at the front desk) advice and drank two bottles of water and got ready to go sledding.

Kane and Lily on the mountain edge by our lodge.

Lily's first time down the sledding hill.
Our snowman we made. Lily kept calling it Santa Claus.

Lily absolutely loved sledding. The first couple of times she was alittle scared, but by the third time she was ready to go by herself.

Lily going down the hill by herself. We only went about half way up the hill to let her sled by herself. As you can see she laid down as she went down the hill:)

That night we decide to go out to a nice restaurant. All the restaurants are pretty nice in Breckenridge, so we had plenty to chose from. We went to The Dredge on the river. It was yummy!!! They have the best crab cakes:) I had a crab filet and Kane had elk medallions. The elk was yummy too!!!

Lily and I at dinner.
After dinner we went back to the lodge to rest. That night Lily and I got sick again. Poor Lily was running a fever and throwing up all night. The next day we both felt 100% better. Stay tuned for Day 3 of our vacation!!!!

Christmas Vacation-Day 1

Our vacation to Breckenridge started on Saturday, Dec 18th. We wanted to drive some of the way because the weather channel was giving snow all of Saturday and Sunday throughout Colorado. We wanted to drive some of the way just in case we had to detour because of snow. Therefore, we drove to Amarillo on Saturday. Driving from Houston to Amarillo is a drive in itself!!!
We woke up and got back on the road by 8:00 Sunday morning.
We saw our first sight of snow just north of Amarillo in Dalhart, Texas.

This was the first time Lily had seen snow. It snowed last year for alittle bit, but this was the first time she really got to see snow:)

This was the first time Lily had been out of the state of Texas. Her first state to visit was New Mexico.

Her second state to visit in the same day was Colorado. We were pretty excited by this point. We knew we were getting closer to Breckenridge.

Since, we going through Canyon City, CO we figured we would stop to see the Royal Gorge Bridge. Let me just say if you ever go that way you must stop to see it. It was scary being so high up on a bridge, but it was awesome to see it:)

Kane and Lily on the Royal Gorge Bridge.

Lily and I on the bridge.

We took an incline train down to the very bottom of the canyon.

Us at the bottom.

Another good picture of Kane and Lily.

Lily and I.

After getting about an hour's rest it was back on the road to Breckenridge.

We had not seen snow since we left Texas. We were getting alittle disappointed that we had not seen anymore. Right before we got to Alma, Colorado the snow started to fall. Its only about 10 miles from Alma to Breckenridge. However, you have to drive through a mountain pass to get there. It was snowing so hard that we could barely see the road. It took us an hour to drive 10 miles. When we got to our Lodge the lady said that this was the worse she has seen it in a long time!!! Which by the way, if you ever go to Breckenridge stay at The Lodge and Spa at Breckenridge. It was an awesome lodge and had a wonderful view.

Here is a few pictures from our first night there.
Lily waiting for dinner.

Look at my little snow bunny:)

Standing by the mermaid made out of snow.

I hope you have enjoyed the beginning of our first family vacation. I will continue to post about our trip tomorrow.
