Christmas Vacation-Day 1

Our vacation to Breckenridge started on Saturday, Dec 18th. We wanted to drive some of the way because the weather channel was giving snow all of Saturday and Sunday throughout Colorado. We wanted to drive some of the way just in case we had to detour because of snow. Therefore, we drove to Amarillo on Saturday. Driving from Houston to Amarillo is a drive in itself!!!
We woke up and got back on the road by 8:00 Sunday morning.
We saw our first sight of snow just north of Amarillo in Dalhart, Texas.

This was the first time Lily had seen snow. It snowed last year for alittle bit, but this was the first time she really got to see snow:)

This was the first time Lily had been out of the state of Texas. Her first state to visit was New Mexico.

Her second state to visit in the same day was Colorado. We were pretty excited by this point. We knew we were getting closer to Breckenridge.

Since, we going through Canyon City, CO we figured we would stop to see the Royal Gorge Bridge. Let me just say if you ever go that way you must stop to see it. It was scary being so high up on a bridge, but it was awesome to see it:)

We took an incline train down to the very bottom of the canyon.

Another good picture of Kane and Lily.

After getting about an hour's rest it was back on the road to Breckenridge.

We had not seen snow since we left Texas. We were getting alittle disappointed that we had not seen anymore. Right before we got to Alma, Colorado the snow started to fall. Its only about 10 miles from Alma to Breckenridge. However, you have to drive through a mountain pass to get there. It was snowing so hard that we could barely see the road. It took us an hour to drive 10 miles. When we got to our Lodge the lady said that this was the worse she has seen it in a long time!!! Which by the way, if you ever go to Breckenridge stay at The Lodge and Spa at Breckenridge. It was an awesome lodge and had a wonderful view.

Here is a few pictures from our first night there.

Look at my little snow bunny:)

I hope you have enjoyed the beginning of our first family vacation. I will continue to post about our trip tomorrow.
